  • Southern Huntingdon County School District is reopening on Monday, September 24, 2018, as a FULL day for students. The High School/Middle School will operate with some temporary classrooms in zones of the building that tested with un-elevated mold spore counts.

On Wednesday, September 19, the SHC maintenance staff and Cumberland Analytical Group identified visible mold in seven rooms at the Rockhill Elementary School. Abatement crews will have the rooms ready for indoor air quality testing on Friday, September 21 and the District Administration will receive the results on Saturday, September 22.   Based upon the positive results from other abated classrooms, the Administration is remaining optimistic that Rockhill Elementary will open on Monday, September 24.

In the event that the spore counts are elevated, a contingency plan is in place.  This plan includes:

    • Buses will unload at Rockhill, go directly into the cafeteria and assemble with their teacher. A plan is in place to accommodate the Rockhill Van.

    • All Rockhill students and teachers will be transported to Shade Gap where K, 1, and 2 will have classes at the Shade Gap Elementary School Building. The phone number is 814-447-5529 ext 7000.

    • Grades 3, 4, and 5 will conduct classes in the Shade Gap Auxiliary Building, located at 21367 Main Street, Shade Gap.  The phone number is 814-259-3560.

    • Students in the Auxiliary Building will be served breakfast and a bagged lunch.

    • Rockhill students will return to Rockhill Elementary building by 2:50 PMin preparation for their routine dismissal home.

Parents and teachers should plan for all District Buildings to open on Monday, September 24, 2018. In the event that Rockhill Elementary is closed a OneCall message will notify the SHC community and the contingency plan will be activated.

    Mrs. Booher!!

I am excited to be hired as the new Vocational Agriculture Instructor at SHC! I graduated from the Pennsylvania State University in 2013 with a B.S. in Agriculture and Extension Education. I am currently in my 6th year of teaching, previously teaching Agriculture Education at East Juniata High School and General Science/Agriculture Education at Forbes Road.  I was a 2009 graduate of Southern Huntingdon County High school, and I am honored to be able to teach in the program where my passion for agriculture education began. When I am not teaching I enjoy spending time with my husband and two daughters. My family and I currently raise purebred Hampshire sheep, club lambs, and show cattle.
