COVID-19 Communication

On January 7, 2021, The PA Department of Education and PA Department of Health released new guidance encouraging districts to reopen for elementary school students with appropriate safety guidelines including six feet for social distancing and face coverings. Additionally, due to some student populations being disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 response efforts, schools should consider resuming in-person instruction for targeted student populations (i.e., students with disabilities, English Learners, etc.), regardless of the general instructional model they are utilizing. On January 13th, the Southern Huntingdon County School District Board voted to operate on a hybrid model for all students, beginning on January 18th, 2021. Group one will attend on Mondays and Wednesdays, Group two will attend on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and Fridays will be remote for both groups. HCCTC will attend Monday-Thursday and transportation will be provided from the high school to the HCCTC by the school district. The HCCTC will not be reopening until January 20; HCCTC students may leave at the end of the 4th period on Monday, January 18 and Tuesday, January 19 if they have a parent note on file. The Act 80 Day previously scheduled for January 18th will be rescheduled for January 15th. An Act 80 Day is a non-student day where teachers work on professional development activities.
